The California Commission on Disability Access (CCDA) has released access guidance for businesses to consider when setting up outdoor dining and curbside pickup locations.
The tip sheet on “Open-Air Dining and Curbside Pickup Disability Access Consideration” is available on the CCDA website under the “Resources” tab at www.CCDA.ca.gov.
CCDA notes that the document is not intended to be all-inclusive and should be used as a starting point for businesses to refer to for general guidance.
Other Resources
For further consultations regarding accessibility compliance, the CCDA advises businesses to contact their local building department, or a Certified Access Specialist (CASp).
Business owners also can refer to the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as the California Building Code for specific technical requirements to facilitate compliance.
Questions or comments about the tip document can be directed to the CCDA at (916) 319-9974, email ccda@dgs.ca.gov.
